Help us keep the Closet rails full and the community supported.
The Community Closet exists because of the generosity of our community. Every coat or £1 donated, every children's bundle prepared and every volunteer hour helps a Hackney resident access the essentials they need with dignity.
Demand continues to grow each year - and your support helps ensure no one is left without the basics.
Together, we keep the rails moving.
Donate Clothing
We welcome donations of good quality, clean clothing for adults, children and babies. We also distribute other essentials.
Items we always need include:
- Children’s clothing
- Coats and jackets
- Shoes and trainers
- Everyday adult clothing
- Baby clothing and essentials
- New or unused toiletries
- Nappies & ladies hygiene products
- Food pantry items
Clothing should be in good, wearable condition so it can go straight back into the community.
Donation
Drop-off
Monday - Thursday: 10:00am - 4:00pm at The CoHub, New Kingshold Community Centre.
If you have a large donation, please contact us in advance so we can prepare space.

There are many ways to support the Closet beyond donating clothing.
Other Ways to Support
Donate Money
Financial donations help us keep the project running day-to-day and respond quickly when urgent needs arise.
Your support helps us:
- Purchase items when stock runs low
- Support crisis cases requiring immediate assistance
- Provide children’s bundles with toys and books
- Top up our Food Pantry
- Keep the Closet open and accessible for the community
Larger gifts help us keep the Closet open six days a week for the community.
Some supporters choose to make larger contributions to help sustain the Community Closet and expand the support we can offer local residents.
These gifts help us keep the Closet open, respond to crisis situations quickly and continue providing free clothing and essentials across the borough.
If you are interested in supporting the project in a bigger way - either personally or through your organisation - we would love to speak with you.

Organisations can also support the Closet with donations or through sponsorship, collaboration and community initiatives.
Together We Make It Possible
Clothing insecurity is a hidden form of poverty. By redistributing donated items back into the community, the Closet:
- Supports families facing financial pressure
- Promotes dignity and confidence
- Reduces textile waste
- Strengthens community connection
Every donation creates impact immediately.
