From crisis to confidence - rebuilding life, skills and purpose at The CoHub
Hector's Story
Hector first came into the hub to see what was going on.
At the time, he needed support across multiple areas - electricity, digital access, furniture, food and clothing. He didn’t have WiFi or basic appliances at home, and was trying to manage day-to-day without the essentials many of us take for granted.
Following a work-related accident, Hector was left with a permanent disability. This had a significant impact on his life, including the loss of his job and the breakdown of his marriage. By the time he reached us, he was rebuilding from a very difficult place.
Through the hub, Hector has been able to access the support he needed in a practical and joined-up way. From essential household items and clothing, to food support and digital access, everything has been put in place to help him regain stability.
With thanks to our partners at 2econd Chance, Hector was provided with a laptop - a key step in helping him get back online, rebuild his confidence, and start looking ahead again.
Since then, Hector has become part of the hub community. He is now volunteering with us, giving back and supporting others, while also taking positive steps forward himself. He has recently completed his CV and is actively looking to return to work.
Hector’s journey reflects what happens when the right support is available at the right time - practical, consistent, and rooted in community.
